Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! At last someone who gets it!!! I have been preaching this for years and it falls on deaf ears and resistant hearts. You have skillfully pointed out the grave mistake of this generation: trying to separate "religion" from their relationship with Christ; in the process we have lost the sense of the sacred. Why is it so hard for people to find balance in their walk with Christ. We swing from the extreme of being religious without a relationship, to wanting a relationship with no religion.
Well done!!!

Amen! I found this article by searcing for the term "religion pejoratively". I searched that term after learning of a Christian website called "nottreligion.com". I understand the blind, unthinking, non-faith filled following of ritual is not good and not what being a Christian is all about. However, you can have that disposition sitting in a high liturgy or sitting in a contemporary worship service. It is about your faith in Christ, but, also the sytem of beliefs that come from that faith and being a member of his body; the Church. You said it much better. We confuse the issue and the truth when we are sloppy with our language. I am a proud adherent of the religion that believes my salvation is based on my relationship with Christ as a member of his body, the Church!

I had planned to write an article/post about the topic religion and how the word 'religious' is used in a negative way by some groups. I can understand a type of religious bondage to some rules and principles or even methods found in some denomnations. But, to misuse the word 'religious' and project a negative perception should be guarded against. Your article is informative and hit every point I have been trying to make about the topic religion and relationship with Christ.
